Envoc was recently named one of the 2018 Best Places to Work in Baton Rouge for the fifth year in a row. Since the award was introduced in Baton Rouge in 2014, Envoc has placed in the top 25 best small to medium businesses to work for every year and took 6th place this year.
The awards program’s process is unique because at least 75% of the total evaluation is based on employee surveys. This fact is the main reason Calvin and his Envoceans (Envoc employees) take so much pride in the award. “We take the opportunity to answer the survey honestly very seriously,” said Robert Schroeder. “For many of us, Envoc is where we started right out of college. We’ve never had reason to look elsewhere, and that is why Envoc has remained on the list every year.”
The other 25% of the evaluation is based on the workplace policies, practices, and demographics, which are all part of what contributes to employee satisfaction, but the employee survey is why the award earns such high regard in the community. “Inclusion on the list can't be bought, lobbied-for, or manipulated,” said Calvin. “Making the Best Places to Work list is an objective, external, peer-reviewed assessment of Envoc's culture.
Just a few of the contributors Envoc’s culture include company-covered team building events such the recent escape room experience, steak nights hosted at Calvin’s home, and most important, the overall appreciation for the work every Envocean contributes to Envoc’s success. Envoceans truly enjoy their day-to-day because they are doing what they love for a company that values their role the way many companies value clients.
“The steak nights and fun events are definitely great, but it’s nice to know that Calvin and everyone on our team values what I do on a daily basis,” said Meagan Orillion. “There’s a mutual respect between Envoceans, clients, and Calvin that I’ve never really experienced with other companies.”
“Being ranked five years in a row while keeping our clients happy means we are living out our purpose of bringing a ‘Better Reality’ to those we said we would,” said Calvin Fabre, Envoc Founder and CEO.
Best Companies Group managed the overall registration and survey process in Baton Rouge and also analyzed the data and used their expertise to determine the final rankings. All winners were announced at an awards ceremony on the morning of September 25.
