Out To Lunch is a radio show that combines Louisiana’s best dining experiences with the latest business leaders and entrepreneurs across the state. Calvin Fabre, CEO and president of Envoc, joined Out To Lunch hosts in Baton Rouge, New Orleans and Acadiana to give the latest updates and insights on LA Wallet.
This episode of Out to Lunch focuses on the two, top tech companies out of Baton Rouge that are making a difference across the nation. LA Wallet is the first digital driver’s license app to be legislatively approved and available to the public. Despite other states receiving federal funding and working in pilot stages for years, Envoc funded the project and released the first version in July of this year. As Calvin says, “We are on the road to adoption.” Besides the acceptance by law enforcement, the Louisiana ATC has already approved LA Wallet for use when purchasing alcohol or tobacco products from Louisiana businesses.

LA Wallet, Louisiana’s digital driver’s license, and Cloud Gavel, electronic warrant software, are Louisiana-first mobile applications making strides across the nation in legislation and law enforcement. This episode of Out To Lunch New Orleans features CEO of Envoc and Co-Founder of LA Wallet Calvin Fabre and Casey Roussel, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Cloud Gavel.
The key to adoption for cutting-edge technologies like LA Wallet and Cloud Gavel is a balance between benefitting the State and adding value for the State’s citizens. Ricchiuti points out that sometimes technology typically moves faster than the legislation needed for its adoption and success. That’s why Fabre and Roussel stand out among entrepreneurs; they were able to work with parties in the State to legally implement new technologies. And other states are starting to notice.
LA Wallet and Cloud Gavel are only at the beginning of their potential. Listen to this episode of Out To Lunch New Orleans on the website to hear about what’s next for Louisiana’s latest in technology.
Envoc CEO and LA Wallet Co-Founder Calvin Fabre shared a table in Acadiana with Gerald Huffman, co-founder of PLATE and Out To Lunch Host Aileen Bennett to discuss the latest mobile apps in Louisiana.
Mobile apps are commonly built for one reason - to solve a problem. For LA Wallet, it’s forgetting your license. For PLATE, it’s a good deal on food. Fabre and Huffman share insights about how their apps solve specific problems for the citizens of Louisiana, and soon, other states and cities. Both apps were created by Louisiana natives in a state that’s typically not known for being forward thinking but is becoming widely known as the Silicon Bayou.
