One of Envoc’s biggest goals for 2019 was to become fully HIPAA certified. Thanks to the diligence and cooperation of all Envoceans, our company achieved that goal.
Many of Envoc’s clients are in the healthcare industry, and with HIPAA Certification, we hope to better serve our current and potential clients.
Much like HIPAA standards and practices, Envoc’s work with the State of Louisiana has hinged on our ability to be data security and information handling experts. Recently, Envoc developers took on the challenge of securely delivering the power of LA Wallet to Louisiana’s citizens, which required stringent protocols to protect the State’s many databases. This experience has led to a smooth, company-wide transition to HIPAA-compliant protocols.
In order to receive HIPAA certification, every Envoc department needed to understand and practice the same protocols as our developers. From designers to sales, every Envocean adjusted his or her daily processes, including internal communication, external communication, and most importantly, information storage and sharing.
HIPAA is made up of a set of regulatory standards governing the security, privacy, and integrity of sensitive health care data, called protected health information (PHI). PHI is any demographic healthcare-related information that can be used to identify a patient. If vendors who service healthcare clients come into contact with PHI in any way, those vendors must be HIPAA compliant.
Envoc has completed a rigorous, six-stage implementation program, adhering to the necessary regulatory standards outlined in the HIPAA Privacy Rule, HIPAA Security Rule, HIPAA Breach Notification Rule, HIPAA Omnibus Rule, and HITECH. These standards have been heavily vetted against the letter of the law and meet federal NIST requirements.
Envoc is now poised to provide healthcare companies with HIPAA-compliant software solutions for document processing, patient care, and other internal processes.
