BATON ROUGE, LA (SEPTEMBER 23, 2014)— It’s September in Louisiana, and regardless of your alma mater, Fall means one thing: football. For most River Parish and New Orleans residents this means Sundays are reserved for the Saints, Saturdays for the college team of choice, and Friday nights belong to high school football. Understanding the obsession with high school football in this region, Eric Richey and hwebis team at Richey on Sports created RiverParishFootball.com and NolaCatholicLeague.com— comprehensive and complete news sources for high school football in the River Parishes and New Orleans areas. Since its launch, RiverParishFootball.com quickly became the area’s top source for high school football news; bringing in over four million page views last year alone.
As any sports fan knows, a team is made up of players with different strengths and different roles. While Richey had the concept and idea, he needed a specialty player on his team, someone who could implement and organize the site in a way that would benefit both the users and management. Fortunately, Louisiana is home to one of the nation’s best web development and design companies, Envoc, who stepped in and transformed the site into one that rivals sports sites at any level.
How did they do this? For starters, the site needed a serious facelift. The layout of the site was confusing and overwhelming. Headlines, links, and team pages were disorganized, and there was no uniformity or consistency between articles and pages. Users craved the information the site had to offer, but because of the site’s problems, the information often came at the cost of frustration. Envoc fixed all of this. In fact, according to Richey, “Envoc didn’t just give the site the professional look it needed, they did much more than that. Besides ‘cleaning it up,’ they also functionally improved the site in almost every area.”
Envoc was able to revamp the site from top to bottom. First, the websites were placed on a large scale Content Management System (CMS) allowing the Richey on Sports team to update both RiverParishFootball.com and NolaCatholicLeague.com via one centralized administrative portal. Before this change, the team was reliant on an IT professional to update images, articles, and videos on their site. It was so difficult, an average user was unable to manage the site. With the new CMS put in place by Envoc, anyone on the Richey on Sports team can update the website with complete ease.
Additionally, Envoc updated the organization and graphics of the site to be clean and consistent. Each article is formatted in the same manner and includes game pictures galleries and videos. When users visit the site, it’s easy to navigate, find the team or information they’re looking for, and get the game highlights most important to them. Football players, coaches, and fans alike can also browse and search old footage, pictures, and articles from years past in the new Archives section. And, ‘Home Page Rundowns’ are available for each game on the schedule and include a pre-game article, game footage, picture galleries, and post-game articles.
As the 2014 football season gets under way, there is only one thing a high school football fan in the River Parishes and New Orleans areas needs to know: RiverParishFootball.com and NolaCatholicLeague.com are up and running and have all your news, highlights, scores, and stats. It’s a one-stop shop for high school football information, and with the help of Envoc this one stop is now easy to use, efficient, and frustration free.
Envoc is a Louisiana-based Design and Software Company under the wing of the Southeast Louisiana Business Center that provides software solutions from “conception to consumption.” Services range from custom branding campaigns, web design, UI-UX, mobile applications, intranets, portals, content management software, and web applications to off-the-shelf software, including BubbleVision, AppMelt and FlipFire. RiverParishFootball.com is owned and operated by Richey on Sports Productions, which also operates NolaCatholicLeague.com. RiverParishFootball.com was founded and designed by Eric Richey with input on the origins of the site from senior writer George Becnel. RiverParishFootball.com is one of the best regional high school football websites in the nation, and after much success in the football area both sites have recently been expanded to cover winter and spring sports as well.
