BATON ROUGE, LA – September 15, 2010 – Envoc, a fast-growing Louisiana-based software development and application hosting company, today announces the opening of a Hammond, Louisiana office. The office is located at 1514 Martens Road in the Southeast Louisiana Business Center, Southeastern’s incubator and home to the Louisiana Business Development Center, where the environment to grow the software product arm of the business will be assisted by the expertise available there.
“Envoc is clearly the type of high growth company that business incubators are designed to assist. Our center is looking forward to their residency.” Bill Joubert, Director, Southeast Louisiana Business Center. Envoc (recently rebranded from High Power Consulting) was founded as a Houston, Texas-based consulting company in 1997, and moved operations to Louisiana in 2002. Noting the Louisiana business incentives, opportunities in continuing to serve oil, gas, and energy industries, the stretegic relocation to Louisiana is yielding great rewards. Envoc’s move also extended to re-incorporating as a Louisiana corporation, a commitment to hiring Louisiana graduates and committing to make Louisiana the “Technology Capital of the South.”
"We are delighted that Envoc has chosen to expand its business into Hammond,” said Daniel McCarthy, Dean of the College of Science and Technology, Southeastern Louisiana University. “This is an example of not just the high quality students that we graduate, but it also shows what a vital part Southeastern plays in the continued economic development of the City of Hammond."
“Having experimented with offshore development teams and anonymous Internet-based contract labor, nothing is turning out quality software developers like our Louisiana colleges and nothing supports our company like Louisiana incentives and the Business Development Center we office out of,” said Calvin Fabre, Envoc’s founder and Southeastern Louisiana University (SLU) graduate. “Our internal processes, constant training, and pairing of graduates with expert developers mean innovative software and a better reality for our clients.”
With the Hammond, LA location, Envoc will more easily participate in an advisory role at SLU, interact with and hire more interns and graduates, support local software development user groups, and serve the businesses of that region including Slidell, Covington, and Mandeville Louisiana.
“Our students are hungry for real-world experiences and scenarios that our labs and books cannot give,” said Dr. Ghassan Alkadi, Computer Science Professor at SLU. “Envoc is another voice in our classes that reinforce the need for students to be well-rounded technically, socially, and professionally in their education.”
“There is nothing more rewarding than seeing software I wrote improve someone’s work day,” said Scott Grimes, recent SLU graduate and Software Developer. “There is still homework, hard work, and examinations in the working world, but the rewards are worth it and I didn’t have to move out of Louisiana.”
