(Baton Rouge, LA) November 28, 2012 — The Lamar Training Library (LTL) is a web based system that provides a centralized, dynamic electronic learning library for Lamar Advertising employees to access a variety of internal training material. The appealing design and robust search features entice users to explore the site, pinpoint the training they need and put the training to use.
“Getting employees excited about internal process training is never easy. Most aren’t very enthusiastic about attending long and boring training sessions or reading through endless powerpoint slides and documents,” said Lynsey Gwin, Envoc Web Designer. “Lamar was looking for a creative solution. We put our heads together and developed the new portal.”

The library takes what was once scattered amongst documents in disparate departmental systems and organizes the information into one central hub. The site was designed with an emphasis on fun and includes plenty of rich color and design providing an engaging training experience for Lamar’s process and procedure training videos, documents and links. The system was developed to function harmoniously with Lamar’s internal active directory and corporate security environment and supports responsive design making it available on tablets and phones as well.
To give Lamar employees a sense of community when using the portal, several social features were included to promote collaboration, such as favoriting, content sharing, inboxes, commenting and ratings. Users are able to suggest training to one another and managers are able to assign training bundles to their employees. Users help one another by applying ratings and comments to training that they’ve viewed, adding valuable side notes and additional tips.

They are working on several future projects for Lamar including an airport kiosk, a new tool for our sales staff, a system to email invoices electronically, and a complete makeover and update of the Lamar’s intranet site. ”

Since its initial launch in October 2012, the library has been an overwhelming success with employees and feedback has been very positive. LTL continues to evolve with upcoming plans for Leaderboards and topic gurus based on user ratings.
